This thermometer works on the principle discovered by Galileo that the density of a liquid changes as temperature varies. Each glass ball is weighted by partially filling the spheres with liquid. When the temperature rises, the liquid in the glass sphere becomes less dense, and the heavier balls sink slowly to the bottom.
How to read current temperature:
NORMAL RANGE
The temperature is shown on the lowest floating ball.
LOW TEMPERATURE
If all balls float, the temperature is below the marked range.
HIGH TEMPERATURE
If all balls sink, the temperature is above the marked range.
Most importantly, experiment and enjoy!
The product includes a beechwood base and glass filled with paraffin oil.
WARNING:
INSPECT FOR CRACKS – This product is made of fragile materials. Inspect the Galileo Thermometer for any damage to the glass that may have occurred during shipment. Check for hairline fractures before use to prevent leakage or bursting. Do not use the product if any cracks or damage are observed.
FIRST AID:
In the event that the glass breaks and the contents inside become exposed, follow the instructions below for the relevant first aid procedures. Consult a doctor if irritation persists.
SKIN EXPOSURE: In case of skin contact, immediately wash skin with soap and generous amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove any contaminated clothing and shoes.
EYE EXPOSURE: In case of contact with eyes, flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Assure adequate flushing by separating the eyelids with fingers.
INHALATION: If vapor is inhaled, remove person from fumes, open windows and doors, and make sure person is receiving fresh air.
ORAL EXPOSURE: If patient is conscious, wash mouth out with water.
